ESGRREW session at the Annual General Assembly of UNESCO Canada
ESGRREW, the Working group on Representations and Rights of/for the Environment, organized a Session on ‘Traditional Indigenous Knowledge, Earth Law and Environmental Justice’ at the Annual General Assembly of the Canadian Commission for the UNESCO, on the 26th of May 2017, in Montreal.
This Session with experts and Indigenous leaders addressed the question of our relationship with nature and environmental justice, focusing on the integration of traditional knowledge and the rights of nature/Earth Law into law & governance. Among the challenges are the transfer methods and concrete initiatives to that end, such as the role of Indigenous associations fostering traditional Indigenous knowledge and reconciliation, and the movements for legal and political reconceptualization.

ESGRREW Symposium at the World Conference on Humanities
ESGRREW, the Working group on Representations and Rights of/for the Environment, held a Symposium at the World Humanities Conference (6-12th August), on ‘Opening new Paths in the Representations and Rights of the Environment’ on the 10th of August 2017, in Liège (Belgium). With 14 distinguished speakers from different regions of the world and accross disciplines (including law, political science, philosophy, traditional knowledge, theology, history, linguistics, literature, visual and performative arts), and an interactive stereo 3D art exhibition on ‘The Ecology of Perception’, by Canadian artist Marten Berkman.
