Michelle Scobie

Michelle Scobie is a lecturer and researcher at the Institute of International Relations and the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute for Social and Economic Studies at The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago. She is co-editor of the Caribbean Journal of International Relations and Diplomacy. She is also an attorney at law with practice in Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela. Her research areas include international law, international environmental law and developing states’ perspectives on global and regional environmental governance particularly in the areas of: institutional architectures relating to climate change, tourism, sustainable development, marine governance, private governance, environmental ethics and trade and environment. She is a member of the Caribbean Studies Association, the International Studies Association, the University of the West Indies Oceans Governance Network and the Earth System Governance Scientific Steering Committee. Scobie has served as a Senior Economic Policy Analyst with the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago and as the first Corporate Secretary of the Trinidad and Tobago Heritage and Stabilisation Fund.
