Henk Kummeling has been rector magnificus of Utrecht University since 1 June 2018. Since 1 September 1995, he has been a professor of Constitutional and Comparative Constitutional Law at the Institute for Constitutional and Administrative Law at Utrecht University. Before that, he was a research assistant in constitutional law at the Catholic University of Nijmegen (Radboud University), and from 1 September 1994 to 1 January 1997 a part-time professor of Constitutional and Administrative Law at the Catholic University of Brabant (Tilburg University).
